Motorola Radio Technology

Pro utilizes two separate and independent radio systems to maintain communications with all members and vehicles. The first system is a trunked 800 mhz system shared by all emergency services in the city of Cambridge and is maintained by the fire department. This system allows Pro field staff to communicate with each other, as well as to Pro Base and Fire Alarm via their portable radios.

The second is a trunked UHF High Band system that connects the mobile radios in our ambulances to communicate with Pro Base, Boston CMED, and the Boston Area Mutual Aid (BAMA) network. Pro uses Motorola MCS2000 and HT1250 portable radios, as well as Motorola CDM1550 and MCS2000 mobile radios. In the near future, Pro will be upgrading all of its portable and mobile radios to Motorola digital capable models, and the dispatch consoles will be upgraded to Motorola digital MCC units.
