Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
The Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) directs communities and industry to work together to plan for chemical accidents, develop inventories of hazardous substances, track toxic chemical releases and provide public access to information on hazardous substances. Pro participates in the Cambridge Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) which exists to promote and facilitate the safety of all persons in Cambridge with respect to their potential exposure to hazardous materials which could be accidentally or intentionally released into the environment.

City Wide Disaster Planning
Pro is an active participant in various aspects of emergency preparedness in Cambridge. Pro sits on several committees focused on preparedness issues and is always available to work on these issues. Pro has assisted in the preparation of written plans, memoranda of understandings with public and private entities, and the development of local and regional exercises. Additionally, Pro has given presentations at various training sessions and preparedness meetings.

Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Disaster Planning
Pro is also an active participant in the Metro-Boston Homeland Security Region (MBHSR). Funded by the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Program; Boston, Cambridge, and seven surrounding cities and towns work cooperatively on preparedness issues on a regional basis. Pro is a member of the EMS committee. The UASI Program was designed to provide financial assistance to address the unique planning, equipment, training, and exercise needs of large urban areas, and to assist them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. The program also provides funding to mass transit systems for the protection of critical infrastructure and emergency preparedness activities. The MBHSR is dedicated to preparing and training for, responding to, and recovering from a chemical, biological, nuclear, radiological, and explosive (CBRNE) WMD incident.
