NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION PROGRAM (NEOP)
As a new employee your first shifts will be riding third with
a Field Training Officer (FTO). Your Field Training Officer or
Supervisor should explain the New Employee Orientation Program
(NEOP) to you during your first ride shift. New employees are
required to ride five (5) shifts to complete NEOP. In addition
to the ride shifts and familiarization tours you’ll be
responsible for completing several web based training modules
ranging from ambulance operations, policies and procedures to
MCI triage. Your process will be monitored by FTOs and your final
clearance to work will be granted by the Director of Administration.
Most of our forms, policies, procedures and memos are available
in electronic format through our web site and/or Ninth Brain Suite (NBS).
One more thing…..
In late 1914, celebrated polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton,
leader of the British Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, set
sail with a 27 man crew, many of whom, it is said, had responded
to the following recruitment notice. In a way, so have you:
| “Men
and women wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter
cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant danger.
Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of
success.” |
| -- Sir
Ernest Shackleton |
Much will be expected of you at PRO. It can be hard and demanding
work accompanied by the feeling that EMS is a thankless job.
Often it is. Sometimes, however, our work can be more rewarding
than you’d ever expect. Are you willing to meet these challenges
to occasionally obtain “honour and recognition in case
of success”?
