:: TRAINING

In-house Training
PRO offers a wide variety of training opportunities at our base in Cambridge. Our classes are open to all Certified Public Safety personnel within the Cambridge EMS system including local hospital personnel. South Middlesex EMS holds M&M Rounds at PRO monthly.

All classes are approved by the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services for ALS and BLS continuing education hours. We also offer several online classes through Ninth Brain Suite. Onsite classes are generally taught by PRO staff, however some programs are taught in conjunction with the Cambridge Fire Department, South Middlesex EMS and Safety Program Consultants.

Web Based Learning
A substantial percentage of our education and training is done online using The Mercy Group’s Ninth Brain. Ninth Brain is a web based application that provides an organized, seamless resource for health and safety information, employee health records, certification monitoring, all forms and interactive continuing education instruction.

NBS is accessible via the web so employees can take classes while at work or on their off time. Most of our New Employee Orientation is completed through NBS. Training classes, familiarization videos, instruction manuals and our con ed classes are available as well as dozens of additional continuing education titles authored by other NBS subscribers. NBS integrates administrative functions so Supervisors or Program Administrators can monitor compliance with required training modules.

Partnerships
Educational institutions like Safety Program Consultants, Cape & Islands EMS and Northern Maine Community College have established relationships to allow their Paramedics to “Intern” at PRO. Internships give Paramedic students an opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience. Students use and build upon the skills learned in the classroom, some interacting with actual patients for the first time. Ultimately the student acts as the team leader during calls while still under the watchful eye of a Paramedic Preceptor.

Community Training
PRO offers American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR, AED and First Aid Courses. Audience specific training can also be created to suit specific needs or learning objectives. See the Community section of this website for more information on citizen and community training.
