As a cornerstone of the new PRO EMS Center for MEDICS, the Sim Lab will provide another avenue for area EMS providers to learn, practice, and retain critical life saving skills. As the only private ambulance service in the Northeast to implement this latest educational and training technology, PRO EMS is committed to working with all field providers to improve the care for the patients we serve.

The Sim Lab is equipped with the latest simulators, manikins, and skill trainers, including Sim Man and Sim Baby from Laerdal.

These high fidelity patient simulators provide heart sounds, lung sounds, bowel sounds, pulses, functionality for speaking, and exceptional capabilities to practice difficult skills and airway scenarios. All types of interventions can be performed as part of extensive and realistic scenarios.

The Sim Lab Rate is based on a maximum Provider: Instructor Ratio of 4:1 to provide maximum focus and opportunity for hands-on practice.
The Sim Lab Rate is: $175/hour for up to 4 providers

Skill Retention: A course developed to provide ALS field providers with an opportunity to practice and maintain skills that can degrade over time. This course is predominately conducted in the Sim Lab. Hands-on skills include adult and infant airway management, critical case interventions including IO, needle cric, chest decompression, cardioversion, pacing, and defibrillation. Full scenarios are ultimately completed with each participant serving as a team leader. 4 hours Sim Lab Rate.

Advanced Airway Management: A course developed to provide ALS field providers with hands-on practice managing adult and infant airways. The focus of the course is on dealing with difficult airways and providing an opportunity to maintain airway management skills on high fidelity human patient simulators. 3 hours Sim Lab Rate.

Team/Leadership Training: A course driven by the completion and debriefing of multiple scenarios with the focus on working as a team. Prehospital care can be hampered by miscommunication and a lack of a coordinated approach by the providers. This course allows teams and leaders to develop or improve these skills through direct discussion and practical experience through simulation and immediate review of each case. 3 hours Sim Lab Rate.

Skill Competency Evaluations, Specific Training, and/or Remediation (including one on one remediation) Developed for Your Needs: The PRO EMS Center for MEDICS instructors will work with your agency or department, including your medical director, to develop specific courses or scenarios to suit you. Some examples include accommodating groups of larger than 4 providers, developing scenarios based on actual cases, testing skill competencies prior to hiring, and working with providers on improving aspects of their performance. Additional fees for course development may be required.
